![[back-to-black.jpg]] ## Reviews ### [[2024-09-25]] The trailer for this looked awful so I wasn't looking forward to this one. But it wasn't as terrible as I expected. The actor who plays her grew on me as the film at Amy Winehouse's life went on. And I have sympathy for her. Winehouse had a distinctive singing and speaking voice, and look. And they're fresh in peoples memory with her death not being that long ago. Anything that a perfect and exceptional acting performance was going to do. And she didn't manage it, sadly. The film is a pretty paint-by-number biopic. I feel musical biopics should focus mostly on the persons music or personal life. This one does a bit a both, but is mainly about her relationship with her husband Blake, played by Jack O'Connell who's as good as ever. For some reason they try to portray her consistently as a dick. As a result I just didn't care about this films Amy Winehouse. I didn't root for her or care for her. **36%**
