How I would love to have an actual, proper [[Anki]] habit.
My memory is terrible. So if I could consistently add to Anki and review the cards my life would be so much better.
Well today I've tried at least. There's [an update for Anki](https://old.reddit.com/r/Anki/comments/1h2pkhh/anki_2411_changelog/) that has a new [[spaced repetition]] algorithm – moving away from SM2 to something called FSRS.
Anyway, that was the spur to get me launch the app for the first time in a long time (⭕️ that reminds me I must add 'Do Anki revision' to my Gamified Habit Tracker on Notion).
I created notes in Obsidian for a lot of the Anki cards. Hoping that the act will help me remember.
I also tried writing it in my [[Field Notes]] [[notebook]]. I forgot how much writing with a pen hurts my hand. And it is slow. The big advantage it has though is that anything written in it is more visible. And so I'm more likely to remember it. That's why I'm writing this in my Lab Notes. That's another habit I need to try and begin. Because a week-long lab note where I can put new things I've learnt is *fairly* visible, if I pin it. I did try the Obsidian Canvas feature. But it's not very flexible, and I found it annoying to use. Anyway, time to go. My left hand is hurting.

Google did a study on what produces the best teams at their company. The answer: psychological safety. An environment in which people can talk without judgement or fear of repercussions. Apparently chia seeds, flaxseeds, walnuts are high in [[Omega-3]]. I must make sure I always include them in my [[The General Smoothie]].
"[[ADHD]] is sometimes linked to deficiencies in [[zinc]], [[magnesium]], and [[iron]]". It might be worth me supplementing with those.

There seems to be about three original images of [[Samuel Johnson]] in existence. So those three have to forever be adapted and stylised. Well, the below is a new favourite of mine. (Via [Memex 1.1](https://memex.naughtons.org/monday-9-december-2024/40177/))

[[Ran Prieur]]:
> Walk a lot. A little known reason this is good for you, is that your calf muscles pump lymph fluid, which balances and cleans your body. ([Source](http://ranprieur.com/))
Apparently this is mostly true. AI:
> This statement is mostly accurate, but it could benefit from some clarification and nuance. Here's a breakdown:
1. **Walking and the Role of Calf Muscles in Pumping Fluids**:
- When you walk, your calf muscles contract and relax, which helps to pump blood and lymphatic fluid back toward your heart. This is because the lymphatic system, unlike the circulatory system, does not have a central pump (like the heart) and relies on muscle movement, breathing, and other bodily motions to move lymph fluid.
- The calf muscles, sometimes called the "second heart," play a significant role in circulating fluids, especially from the lower extremities.
2. **The Function of Lymph Fluid**:
- Lymph fluid is a part of the lymphatic system, which helps remove toxins, waste products, and other unwanted materials from the body. It also plays a critical role in the immune system by transporting white blood cells and aiding in the body's defense mechanisms.
- While walking and muscle activity can promote lymph circulation, the primary function of the lymphatic system is to maintain fluid balance and support immunity rather than directly "cleaning" the body in a detoxification sense. The liver and kidneys are the primary organs responsible for processing and removing toxins.
3. **Health Benefits of Walking**:
- Walking has numerous proven benefits, including improved cardiovascular health, better circulation, enhanced mood, and reduced risk of chronic diseases. The movement of lymph fluid is one of the many ways walking supports overall health.
### In Conclusion:
The statement is partially correct. Walking does stimulate the movement of lymph fluid via the action of the calf muscles, which supports fluid balance and immune function. However, saying it "cleans your body" might oversimplify the role of the lymphatic system and could be misleading without mentioning the liver and kidneys' primary roles in detoxification.

From [[Article — Olive oil fraud and mislabelling cases hit record high in EU]]:
> Global heating has led to a fall in olive oil production levels in recent years. Crops in Spain, which produced more than half the world’s olive oil in 2018-19, have been hit by drought and heatwaves of more than 40C (104F).
Provisional figures from the International Olive Council (IOC) show global production levels are expected to fall to 2.4m tonnes in 2023-24, down 27% from 2018-19 and lower than the 2.6m tonnes in projected consumption levels.
As a result, prices have shot up. One hundred kilos of extra virgin olive oil from Jaén in Spain cost €787 in November last year, up from €262.50 five years earlier, making olive oil a more attractive market for fraudsters.
Elliott said climate-driven inflation was often behind rising levels of fraud: “Whenever we see fluctuations in prices of a commodity it’s always a clear sign of increased fraud in the next few months, as it provides an opportunity for people to cheat.
“Olive oil is one example. There has also been massive increases in things like chocolate where cocoa production is a massive issue; because of climate change there will be big increases in things like coffee. The more processed a food is, the more likely there will be fraud.”
